Par Monts et par Vaux is about the progress of the Roman troops towards the plains of Gergovia. It is the narrative of the massacres of the legions, the destruction of lands, the seeding of anger and hatred.

Seuls compagnons,
De cette campagne depuis d’innombrables saisons.
Ils se font entendre par monts et par vaux,
Dans l’horizon lointain l’on distingue leurs sourds échos.

Arrivant tel d’impitoyables conquérants,
Avides et balayant leur chemin lentement,
Jusqu’aux entrailles des territoires isolés,
Ce révoltant fléau ne cesse d’avancer.

La grandissante inimitié inspire la cruauté,
Qui ne cesse de couler sur les deux rives glacées.

Arrivant tel d’impitoyables conquérants,
Avides et balayant leur chemin lentement,
Jusqu’aux entrailles des territoires isolés,

L’Ancien laisse les derniers commandements…

L’angoisse des gens ne fait que s’aggraver,
